Narrative:
Right 14TH duct message on EICAS illuminated. Per checklist: retarded thrust lever, closed 14TH duct valve, #2 engine shut down, go around and completed checklist, declared emergency. Approach and landing uneventful. Passenger advised of situation. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter states that the aircraft was canadair rj and the EICAS message was 'warning right 14TH duct.' he does not know of any other such incidents regarding the aircraft and speculates the cause was either a leak or a sensor problem. Company does not follow up with the flight crew regarding such an incident. Aircraft is repaired and back in operation. He does not feel this is a major problem with aircraft.
