Narrative:
We were cleared to 11000 ft heading 120 degrees by ZJX. Upon reaching 11000 ft we were handed off to savannah approach. When we contacted sav approach, they inquired if ZJX told us about 11000 ft wbound VFR traffic at our 12 O'clock position. We replied negative. Sav approach told us to turn 60 degrees left (heading 060 degrees) and to descend to 5000 ft. At the time we were approximately 30 mi west of the sav VOR. As we were beginning our turn and descent, the TCASII issued a TA followed soon thereafter with an RA which agreed with the controller's instructions. The remainder of the flight was uneventful.

Title: NMAC BTWN A B757 APCHING THE TERMINAL AREA IN VFR CONDITIONS, AT 11000 FT, AND SAME DIRECTION TFC AT THE SAME ALT. ATC ISSUED INSTRUCTIONS TO DSND AND TURN. TCASII ISSUED AN RA SIMULTANEOUSLY, THE RESOLUTION OF WHICH CORRESPONDED TO ATC'S INSTRUCTIONS JUST ISSUED.
Narrative: WE WERE CLRED TO 11000 FT HDG 120 DEGS BY ZJX. UPON REACHING 11000 FT WE WERE HANDED OFF TO SAVANNAH APCH. WHEN WE CONTACTED SAV APCH, THEY INQUIRED IF ZJX TOLD US ABOUT 11000 FT WBOUND VFR TFC AT OUR 12 O'CLOCK POS. WE REPLIED NEGATIVE. SAV APCH TOLD US TO TURN 60 DEGS L (HDG 060 DEGS) AND TO DSND TO 5000 FT. AT THE TIME WE WERE APPROX 30 MI W OF THE SAV VOR. AS WE WERE BEGINNING OUR TURN AND DSCNT, THE TCASII ISSUED A TA FOLLOWED SOON THEREAFTER WITH AN RA WHICH AGREED WITH THE CTLR'S INSTRUCTIONS. THE REMAINDER OF THE FLT WAS UNEVENTFUL.
