Air Traffic Incident | Operational Error |
Narrative:
We were issued a takeoff clearance on runway 21L at dtw. The clearance was turn left to 140 degrees and climb and maintain 4000 ft. At about 1500 ft MSL, we saw an air carrier that took off on either runway 21C or runway 21R, turning toward us. We then stopped our climb and the air carrier continued over us at less than 1000 ft separation. We do not know if the error was on the part of the tower or the air carrier. No further incident resulted.

Title: ACR X DEPARTS DTW RWY ON RWY 21L WITH CLRNC INSTRUCTIONS TO TURN L AFTER TKOF. APPARENTLY BEFORE STARTING L TURN, THE CREW OBSERVED ACR Y, PRESUMABLY ON THEIR R, FLYING TOWARD AND OVER THEIR POS.
Narrative: WE WERE ISSUED A TKOF CLRNC ON RWY 21L AT DTW. THE CLRNC WAS TURN L TO 140 DEGS AND CLB AND MAINTAIN 4000 FT. AT ABOUT 1500 FT MSL, WE SAW AN ACR THAT TOOK OFF ON EITHER RWY 21C OR RWY 21R, TURNING TOWARD US. WE THEN STOPPED OUR CLB AND THE ACR CONTINUED OVER US AT LESS THAN 1000 FT SEPARATION. WE DO NOT KNOW IF THE ERROR WAS ON THE PART OF THE TWR OR THE ACR. NO FURTHER INCIDENT RESULTED.
