Narrative:
ZNY issued a frequency change to 127.17. Both of us wrote it down that way. I made several attempts with no contact. I became distracted (don't remember by what) and forgot to keep trying. Approximately 50 mi east of buf I noticed it was and had been very quiet -- remembered I hadn't pursued the no contact, and pulled ATC frequency off the charts. The correct frequency should have been 127.47, not .17. I have no excuse for not staying on task and should have not put the microphone down 'til I had contact with ATC. It was a beautiful slow saturday morning and I simply got complacent. My apologies for the extra work for ATC.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: DC9-30 ACFT INSTRUCTED TO CONTACT ATC ON ANOTHER FREQ. FLC WROTE DOWN THE WRONG FREQ AND UNABLE TO ESTABLISH CONTACT, THEN FORGOT FOR AWHILE. THEN LOOKED UP FREQ OFF CHARTS AND RE-ESTABLISHED COM.
