Narrative:

Aircraft X checked on my frequency at 8000 ft. He asked for higher because he was entering the tops. I climbed aircraft X and the alert went off. If msp approach would've pointed out aircraft X to sector 6 or aircraft Y to my sector as per 7110.65, this error would not have occurred. Also, the controller called the sector 7 d-side (my d-side) to tell him that aircraft X was stopped at 8000 ft referenced an aircraft Z which we later were told by the supervisor at msp approach, that the approach controller meant to reference aircraft Y.
