Narrative:
Flight was vectored to intercept sfo 095 degree radial for runway 28R. After intercept, approach gave a heading to the left 10 degrees to intercept runway 28L localizer. After localizer capture, approach gave us another turn to the left of course. A B737 was simultaneously being vectored on an approach to runway 28R. After verifying we had the field in sight, approach asked us to call the B737 in sight. After a second query and asking for the traffic's position, we called the B737 in sight (2 O'clock high) descending out of a broken layer of clouds. We were then immediately cleared for a visual approach to runway 28L to follow the B737 landing on runway 28R. Our minimum approach speed was 141 KTS and we were at approximately 141 KTS when we called the B737 in sight. Because of the B737's slower approach speed, we gradually became a wingtip-to-wingtip approach on very short final.

Title: L1011 UNABLE TO STAY BEHIND B737 LNDG ON PARALLEL RWY AT SFO.
Narrative: FLT WAS VECTORED TO INTERCEPT SFO 095 DEG RADIAL FOR RWY 28R. AFTER INTERCEPT, APCH GAVE A HDG TO THE L 10 DEGS TO INTERCEPT RWY 28L LOC. AFTER LOC CAPTURE, APCH GAVE US ANOTHER TURN TO THE L OF COURSE. A B737 WAS SIMULTANEOUSLY BEING VECTORED ON AN APCH TO RWY 28R. AFTER VERIFYING WE HAD THE FIELD IN SIGHT, APCH ASKED US TO CALL THE B737 IN SIGHT. AFTER A SECOND QUERY AND ASKING FOR THE TFC'S POS, WE CALLED THE B737 IN SIGHT (2 O'CLOCK HIGH) DSNDING OUT OF A BROKEN LAYER OF CLOUDS. WE WERE THEN IMMEDIATELY CLRED FOR A VISUAL APCH TO RWY 28L TO FOLLOW THE B737 LNDG ON RWY 28R. OUR MINIMUM APCH SPD WAS 141 KTS AND WE WERE AT APPROX 141 KTS WHEN WE CALLED THE B737 IN SIGHT. BECAUSE OF THE B737'S SLOWER APCH SPD, WE GRADUALLY BECAME A WINGTIP-TO-WINGTIP APCH ON VERY SHORT FINAL.
