Narrative:
Landing in ewr, runway 22R, visual approach. Gusty wind conditions, surface wind reported 300 degrees at 15 KTS gusting 22 KTS. Aircraft controllable in all phases of flight. On glide path using VASI, airspeed fluctuating +10 -5 KTS on approach due to gusts and updrafts. On short final, tower reported windshear +10 KTS by several aircraft. On touchdown, right main wheel touched first, then strong wind gust caused right wing to rise suddenly. Correcting with ailerons, leveled wings, then right wing went down suddenly and scraped right landing light on the ground. Aircraft returned to service after inspection and replacement of right landing light.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: FO OF AN ACR MLG LOST CTL OF THE ACFT AND STRUCK THE R WING LNDG LIGHT ON THE RWY DURING LNDG. AT THE TIME OF THE MISHAP, THERE WERE STRONG GUSTY XWINDS, AND SHEAR CONDITIONS. POSTFLT INSPECTION REVEALED ONLY DAMAGE TO THE LNDG LIGHT WHICH WAS REPLACED.
Narrative: LNDG IN EWR, RWY 22R, VISUAL APCH. GUSTY WIND CONDITIONS, SURFACE WIND RPTED 300 DEGS AT 15 KTS GUSTING 22 KTS. ACFT CONTROLLABLE IN ALL PHASES OF FLT. ON GLIDE PATH USING VASI, AIRSPD FLUCTUATING +10 -5 KTS ON APCH DUE TO GUSTS AND UPDRAFTS. ON SHORT FINAL, TWR RPTED WINDSHEAR +10 KTS BY SEVERAL ACFT. ON TOUCHDOWN, R MAIN WHEEL TOUCHED FIRST, THEN STRONG WIND GUST CAUSED R WING TO RISE SUDDENLY. CORRECTING WITH AILERONS, LEVELED WINGS, THEN R WING WENT DOWN SUDDENLY AND SCRAPED R LNDG LIGHT ON THE GND. ACFT RETURNED TO SVC AFTER INSPECTION AND REPLACEMENT OF R LNDG LIGHT.
