Narrative:

Flying as safety pilot for IFR training. On approach into chs when LORAN/DME failed. Alternator failed shortly thereafter. Squawked 7600 and maneuvered around chs at controled altitude of 3000 ft. Returned to jzi with no electrical. Called chs tower after landing and advised of same.
