Narrative:

There is a 70 ft unlighted, unmarked tower located 950 ft west of the centerline of a precision instrument runway at columbia regional airport, columbia, mo. I have reported this tower several yrs ago and again just recently, about 3 weeks ago. It was reported to the FAA. There has still been no action. I have no reasonable expectation that any action will be taken. I have reported this hazard for the last time. This action clears my conscience in event an accident will occur as a result of this unlighted obstruction. If the FAA chooses to ignore this problem, I am afraid a costly and fatal accident may result. There needs to be action taken to avoid this. I recommend an obstruction light installed on this tower post haste. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter states that he has done further research since the report was sent. The tower is actually 78 ft high and is 1 ft under the ht which would require a light. The tower is adjacent to the buildings and reporter is concerned that someone making any emergency or unusual approach would not be aware of this tower at all. It just needs to be lighted. Reporter has written to regional FAA office since his report to ASRS. He was advised of the hotline.

Narrative: THERE IS A 70 FT UNLIGHTED, UNMARKED TWR LOCATED 950 FT W OF THE CTRLINE OF A PRECISION INST RWY AT COLUMBIA REGIONAL ARPT, COLUMBIA, MO. I HAVE RPTED THIS TWR SEVERAL YRS AGO AND AGAIN JUST RECENTLY, ABOUT 3 WKS AGO. IT WAS RPTED TO THE FAA. THERE HAS STILL BEEN NO ACTION. I HAVE NO REASONABLE EXPECTATION THAT ANY ACTION WILL BE TAKEN. I HAVE RPTED THIS HAZARD FOR THE LAST TIME. THIS ACTION CLRS MY CONSCIENCE IN EVENT AN ACCIDENT WILL OCCUR AS A RESULT OF THIS UNLIGHTED OBSTRUCTION. IF THE FAA CHOOSES TO IGNORE THIS PROB, I AM AFRAID A COSTLY AND FATAL ACCIDENT MAY RESULT. THERE NEEDS TO BE ACTION TAKEN TO AVOID THIS. I RECOMMEND AN OBSTRUCTION LIGHT INSTALLED ON THIS TWR POST HASTE. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATES THAT HE HAS DONE FURTHER RESEARCH SINCE THE RPT WAS SENT. THE TWR IS ACTUALLY 78 FT HIGH AND IS 1 FT UNDER THE HT WHICH WOULD REQUIRE A LIGHT. THE TWR IS ADJACENT TO THE BUILDINGS AND RPTR IS CONCERNED THAT SOMEONE MAKING ANY EMER OR UNUSUAL APCH WOULD NOT BE AWARE OF THIS TWR AT ALL. IT JUST NEEDS TO BE LIGHTED. RPTR HAS WRITTEN TO REGIONAL FAA OFFICE SINCE HIS RPT TO ASRS. HE WAS ADVISED OF THE HOTLINE.
