Narrative:
Maintenance replaced captain's eadi at ZZZ en route to xyz. I realized the turn and slip indicator was not installed for that eadi (copilot's was installed). I didn't think anything about it and wrote it up in the logbook. The next night, the xyz mechanic told me that not having a turn and slip indicator was a 'no-go' item and the company was self-reporting their failure to properly replace the eadi. Apparently the last step in the procedure is to replace the turn and slip indictor and the mechanic missed it.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A DC8F WAS DISPATCHED WITH THE CAPT'S INCLINOMETER MISSING DUE TO NOT BEING INSTALLED AFTER EADI REPLACEMENT.
Narrative: MAINT REPLACED CAPT'S EADI AT ZZZ ENRTE TO XYZ. I REALIZED THE TURN AND SLIP INDICATOR WAS NOT INSTALLED FOR THAT EADI (COPLT'S WAS INSTALLED). I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING ABOUT IT AND WROTE IT UP IN THE LOGBOOK. THE NEXT NIGHT, THE XYZ MECH TOLD ME THAT NOT HAVING A TURN AND SLIP INDICATOR WAS A 'NO-GO' ITEM AND THE COMPANY WAS SELF-RPTING THEIR FAILURE TO PROPERLY REPLACE THE EADI. APPARENTLY THE LAST STEP IN THE PROC IS TO REPLACE THE TURN AND SLIP INDICTOR AND THE MECH MISSED IT.
