Narrative:
Frequency/altitude: 113.96 HF, FL410. ATC facility: ny commercial radio. Location: 80 mi ssw slatn. Flying bda-bos on direct routing targa to scupp at FL410, saw some WX on radar about 60 mi ssw slatn and requested deviation 20 mi east of course for WX. Ny commercial radio took the request and told us to stand by. As we got closer we repeated our request as we had not received our deviation clearance yet. We were told to stand by again. Just south of buildups we called ny commercial radio again and told them that I was exercising captain's emergency authority/authorized and deviating east of course. Commercial radio rogered it and told us to report back on course. We flew about 15 mi east around the WX and then returned onto course and then informed commercial radio. They rogered our communication and told us to contact ZNY about our deviation. I called them after we landed in boston and they told me that there had been no conflicts but that they had never received the deviation request.
