Narrative:
Flew the anpu 2 departure out of taipei. SID required runway heading until 3 mi south of airport and then a right turn to heading 035 degrees. This heading until intercepting the anpu 265 degree radial inbound. We forgot to switch VOR frequency from 114.3 tia VOR used for 3 mi south of airport turn to heading 035 degrees. We instead intercepted the tia VOR mistakenly. We should have intercepted APU VOR. APU VOR is located 15 mi northeast of tia VOR. Crew was rushed departing taipei airport to meet a clearance void time. Upon reaching runway we incurred a 10 min delay due to being 20 seconds late calling for takeoff clearance. Crew was frustrated, this meant a lower altitude going across nopac tracks. This was the last flight of a 14 day trip and crew was tired. SID was properly briefed by crew but due to language barriers and fatigue we forgot to tune in the correct VOR for radial intercept. To prevent recurrence so should be in the departure loop and monitoring front end. Additionally, all crew members should double check all navigation frequencys and procedures.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: FLC OF DC10-30 ON A SID HAS WRONG VOR FREQ ENTERED RESULTING IN A HEADING DEV ON A PACIFIC OCEANIC RTE.
Narrative: FLEW THE ANPU 2 DEP OUT OF TAIPEI. SID REQUIRED RWY HEADING UNTIL 3 MI S OF ARPT AND THEN A R TURN TO HDG 035 DEGS. THIS HEADING UNTIL INTERCEPTING THE ANPU 265 DEG RADIAL INBOUND. WE FORGOT TO SWITCH VOR FREQ FROM 114.3 TIA VOR USED FOR 3 MI S OF ARPT TURN TO HDG 035 DEGS. WE INSTEAD INTERCEPTED THE TIA VOR MISTAKENLY. WE SHOULD HAVE INTERCEPTED APU VOR. APU VOR IS LOCATED 15 MI NE OF TIA VOR. CREW WAS RUSHED DEPARTING TAIPEI ARPT TO MEET A CLRNC VOID TIME. UPON REACHING RWY WE INCURRED A 10 MIN DELAY DUE TO BEING 20 SECONDS LATE CALLING FOR TKOF CLRNC. CREW WAS FRUSTRATED, THIS MEANT A LOWER ALT GOING ACROSS NOPAC TRACKS. THIS WAS THE LAST FLT OF A 14 DAY TRIP AND CREW WAS TIRED. SID WAS PROPERLY BRIEFED BY CREW BUT DUE TO LANGUAGE BARRIERS AND FATIGUE WE FORGOT TO TUNE IN THE CORRECT VOR FOR RADIAL INTERCEPT. TO PREVENT RECURRENCE SO SHOULD BE IN THE DEP LOOP AND MONITORING FRONT END. ADDITIONALLY, ALL CREW MEMBERS SHOULD DOUBLE CHK ALL NAV FREQS AND PROCS.
