Narrative:
During cruise flight the left oil strainer clogging light illuminated. Appropriate checklists were accomplished and the left engine was shut down in-flight. We then diverted to phx where an uneventful landing was made. An emergency was declared and the equipment was standing by for our landing on runway 28R.

Title: FLC OF MD80 HAVE AN OIL STRAINER CLOGGING LIGHT ILLUMINATE. ENG IS SHUT DOWN AND A DIVERSION IS MADE.
Narrative: DURING CRUISE FLT THE L OIL STRAINER CLOGGING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. APPROPRIATE CHKLISTS WERE ACCOMPLISHED AND THE L ENG WAS SHUT DOWN INFLT. WE THEN DIVERTED TO PHX WHERE AN UNEVENTFUL LNDG WAS MADE. AN EMER WAS DECLARED AND THE EQUIP WAS STANDING BY FOR OUR LNDG ON RWY 28R.
