Narrative:
Jul/xa/98, approximately XA10. Flight XXX aircraft XXX las to pdx. Somewhere between bty VOR and the lidat intersection of J92 en route to pdx, the third flight attendant called the flight deck and told the first officer that a passenger had found a note in the right aft lavatory saying bomb on plane. The note was on a paper towel, printed with a ball point pen which was also found with the note. At this time the first officer contacted phx dispatch and advised them of the note. After what seemed to be about 10-15 mins and many attempts to recontact dispatch, contact was re-established and we were told that the threat was considered as non specific (interesting), and we should continue to pdx. (Dispatch said this was decided by the dispatch manager and the chief pilot.) by this time, all 5 of us had discussed the facts and agreed to continue to pdx. I requested that, upon arrival in pdx, the lady that found the note be interviewed by security. Dispatch said they would take care of this. However, upon arrival in pdx we were required to park at a remote site on the airport and the portland police and bomb squad searched the airplane and found no evidence of a bomb. At this time I do not know whether the lady that found the note was interviewed or not.
