Narrative:
On takeoff, we heard a loud, deep vibration from the left side of the plane in the business class overwing area. The vibration did not go away, so the purser alerted the cockpit. The first officer came out and investigated. Some mins later, the purser told us (the crew) that we would be returning to rio and that the captain wanted us to mentally prepare for an evacuate/evacuation. We were to remain in our jumpseats. Approximately 10 mins later, the purser further alerted us that when we landed we could have a brake fire, so if we were to evacuate/evacuation, the captain would give us the signal and say what side not to use. Landing was uneventful. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated that the cause of the vibration was bird ingestion to #1 engine. Communication with the tower in rio was difficult as the flight crew asked for tower to look for fire and they responded that fire trucks were already there, not understanding the request.

Title: ON TKOF ONBOARD B767-200, #1 ENG INCURRED BIRD STRIKE CAUSING VIBRATION. ACFT RETURN LAND WITHOUT INCIDENT AND WAS TAKEN OTS.
Narrative: ON TKOF, WE HEARD A LOUD, DEEP VIBRATION FROM THE L SIDE OF THE PLANE IN THE BUSINESS CLASS OVERWING AREA. THE VIBRATION DID NOT GO AWAY, SO THE PURSER ALERTED THE COCKPIT. THE FO CAME OUT AND INVESTIGATED. SOME MINS LATER, THE PURSER TOLD US (THE CREW) THAT WE WOULD BE RETURNING TO RIO AND THAT THE CAPT WANTED US TO MENTALLY PREPARE FOR AN EVAC. WE WERE TO REMAIN IN OUR JUMPSEATS. APPROX 10 MINS LATER, THE PURSER FURTHER ALERTED US THAT WHEN WE LANDED WE COULD HAVE A BRAKE FIRE, SO IF WE WERE TO EVAC, THE CAPT WOULD GIVE US THE SIGNAL AND SAY WHAT SIDE NOT TO USE. LNDG WAS UNEVENTFUL. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATED THAT THE CAUSE OF THE VIBRATION WAS BIRD INGESTION TO #1 ENG. COM WITH THE TWR IN RIO WAS DIFFICULT AS THE FLC ASKED FOR TWR TO LOOK FOR FIRE AND THEY RESPONDED THAT FIRE TRUCKS WERE ALREADY THERE, NOT UNDERSTANDING THE REQUEST.
