Narrative:
I opened a VFR flight plan because I would overfly canadian airspace. I just plain forgot to close it. I really need an item on my shutdown checklist. It is not the sort of thing to be left to memory. Also, it would help if ATC providing radar services could close VFR flight plans.

Title: PLT OF AN M20K ACFT FAILED TO CLOSE HIS VFR FLT PLAN AFTER FLYING OVER CANADIAN AIRSPACE.
Narrative: I OPENED A VFR FLT PLAN BECAUSE I WOULD OVERFLY CANADIAN AIRSPACE. I JUST PLAIN FORGOT TO CLOSE IT. I REALLY NEED AN ITEM ON MY SHUTDOWN CHKLIST. IT IS NOT THE SORT OF THING TO BE LEFT TO MEMORY. ALSO, IT WOULD HELP IF ATC PROVIDING RADAR SVCS COULD CLOSE VFR FLT PLANS.
