Narrative:

During flight preparation agent advised that our aircraft had experienced a fuel spill. The logbook already had a write-up on a fueling valve from 2 days earlier. The fueler explained that the fueling valve switch failed to shut off the valve and the volumetric shutoff valve had also failed. We tried the switch several times and it appeared to function normally. Called maintenance technician who advised that it was ok for flight to dfw since fueling was already complete. After baggage loading delay due to the spill, flight progressed normally. On arrival dfw, fuelers began immediately. Maintenance was notified and we advised the fuelers of the problem. We checked that the fueling valve would operate both with the switch and manually.
