Narrative:
A real bad day at ATC -- on vectors for runway 12 (1ST runway change) originally headed for runway 9R, almost overhead airport at 9000 ft, big vectors to recover position and spacing, on localizer finally, another controller came on and said 'this ain't gonna work' and issued go around instructions. We complied. 2ND approach to runway 12, tower said cleared to land runway 12 lahso runway 12, hold short runway 9R. My operations specifications preclude lahso with the B767 on runway 12 so I refused. 'Ok then, be ready to go around,' and then cleared for runway 9L. A little late, beyond my comfort zone to change runways -- now a circle approach though visual -- on final. Refused -- more go around instructions and vectors, finally to runway 9R. Again, the tower cleared us to land runway 9R lahso runway 12. We again refused and were cleared to land full length. The controllers seem to be trying to jam this lahso down our throats. It won't happen as long as we still have the throttles in the cockpit.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: CAPT OF A B767 REFUSES TWR LAHSO CLRNC FOR LNDG. AFTER THREE CHANGES OF RWYS, ATC PROVIDES LNDG CLRNC WITH FULL RWY LENGTH AVAILABLE.
Narrative: A REAL BAD DAY AT ATC -- ON VECTORS FOR RWY 12 (1ST RWY CHANGE) ORIGINALLY HEADED FOR RWY 9R, ALMOST OVERHEAD ARPT AT 9000 FT, BIG VECTORS TO RECOVER POS AND SPACING, ON LOC FINALLY, ANOTHER CTLR CAME ON AND SAID 'THIS AIN'T GONNA WORK' AND ISSUED GAR INSTRUCTIONS. WE COMPLIED. 2ND APCH TO RWY 12, TWR SAID CLRED TO LAND RWY 12 LAHSO RWY 12, HOLD SHORT RWY 9R. MY OPS SPECS PRECLUDE LAHSO WITH THE B767 ON RWY 12 SO I REFUSED. 'OK THEN, BE READY TO GAR,' AND THEN CLRED FOR RWY 9L. A LITTLE LATE, BEYOND MY COMFORT ZONE TO CHANGE RWYS -- NOW A CIRCLE APCH THOUGH VISUAL -- ON FINAL. REFUSED -- MORE GAR INSTRUCTIONS AND VECTORS, FINALLY TO RWY 9R. AGAIN, THE TWR CLRED US TO LAND RWY 9R LAHSO RWY 12. WE AGAIN REFUSED AND WERE CLRED TO LAND FULL LENGTH. THE CTLRS SEEM TO BE TRYING TO JAM THIS LAHSO DOWN OUR THROATS. IT WON'T HAPPEN AS LONG AS WE STILL HAVE THE THROTTLES IN THE COCKPIT.
