Narrative:
Orf approach assigned us 2000 ft until final then cleared us for the visual runway 7. We turned slightly toward the approach end of runway 7 for a modified final and then began a slow descent out of 2000 ft for phf. Apparently orf approach had intended us to stay more over the shoreline and square our turn to final then descend. Being cleared for the visual, we opted for a slight turn toward the runway. There was no conflict with other aircraft. Perhaps ATC should have asked us to square our turn to final, and perhaps we should have asked him to clarify his instructions. Perhaps visual clrncs should not be given with restrs.

Title: FLC IN LR60 WAS CLRED FOR A VISUAL APCH TO ORF ARPT TO MAINTAIN 2000 FT UNTIL FINAL. THE CREW TURNED TOWARD THE ARPT AND BEGAN DSNDING.
Narrative: ORF APCH ASSIGNED US 2000 FT UNTIL FINAL THEN CLRED US FOR THE VISUAL RWY 7. WE TURNED SLIGHTLY TOWARD THE APCH END OF RWY 7 FOR A MODIFIED FINAL AND THEN BEGAN A SLOW DSCNT OUT OF 2000 FT FOR PHF. APPARENTLY ORF APCH HAD INTENDED US TO STAY MORE OVER THE SHORELINE AND SQUARE OUR TURN TO FINAL THEN DSND. BEING CLRED FOR THE VISUAL, WE OPTED FOR A SLIGHT TURN TOWARD THE RWY. THERE WAS NO CONFLICT WITH OTHER ACFT. PERHAPS ATC SHOULD HAVE ASKED US TO SQUARE OUR TURN TO FINAL, AND PERHAPS WE SHOULD HAVE ASKED HIM TO CLARIFY HIS INSTRUCTIONS. PERHAPS VISUAL CLRNCS SHOULD NOT BE GIVEN WITH RESTRS.
