Narrative:
Cleared to descend to 16000 ft. First officer (PF) heard '6000' and put it in window after captain had already set 16000 ft. TCASII went off as advisory. All eyes outside to locate traffic at 2 O'clock and 4 mi. Traffic sighted. Aircraft descended below 16000 ft.

Title: A DSNDING B727 OVERSHOT ITS ASSIGNED ALT WHEN THE FO RESET THE ALT ALERTER TO THE WRONG ALT AFTER THE CAPT HAD ALREADY SET IT TO THE CORRECT CLRED TO ALT. TCASII ALERTS CREW AS TO THERE BEING A PROB.
