Narrative:
Had told company about suspect ground power which seemed to affect gyro instrument on aircraft parked overnight. Today, first officer compass directional gyro failed. Coincidentally, agent for first time asked about reported problems, not knowing I was the one reporting it. Had they heeded the call sooner, it might have avoided this flight cancellation.
