Narrative:
During departure from las, while flying oveto 3 departure, a turn was made at 7 mi from the airport in accordance with the assigned SID. (The clearance including the SID was received via ACARS pre departure clearance while preparing for the flight. The SID clearance on page 1 of the pre departure clearance read 'caf oveto 3 bce' ...plus the remaining routing, altitude, squawk. Page 2 of the pre departure clearance read, 'disregard idp fly runway heading vector to bce.' this page 2 was missed by both pilots during flight preparation. When cleared for takeoff by las, the clearance issued was 'cleared for takeoff runway 7L at D' and the winds). During the turn on the oveto 3 SID (from runway heading to heading 360 degrees) we were advised by departure control that we were cleared to maintain runway heading, not follow the oveto 3 SID. At this time we turned back to an assigned heading of 030 degrees. The controller asked if we received our departure clearance information via pre departure clearance. We answered yes and rechked the clearance and realized the mistake. The controller said it happened before and that the pre departure clearance should be changed to avoid the misread/missed information problem. We agreed. Recommendation: if the oveto 3 is not going to be used, and runway heading with a vector to bde is intended by departure, then I suggest they write the clearance to read that, and that when issuing the takeoff clearance that the controller include 'maintain runway heading.' this would align las clrncs with those received from most other departure controls.

Title: ACR B757 FLC MISSES PAGE 2 OF PDC AND DEPARTS ON WRONG INITIAL DEP INSTRUCTIONS. ACARS PAGE 2 CHANGED SID TO RADAR VECTOR. FLC SUGGESTS PDC FORMAT BE CHANGED TO REFLECT CHANGE OF DEP INSTRUCTIONS.
Narrative: DURING DEP FROM LAS, WHILE FLYING OVETO 3 DEP, A TURN WAS MADE AT 7 MI FROM THE ARPT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ASSIGNED SID. (THE CLRNC INCLUDING THE SID WAS RECEIVED VIA ACARS PDC WHILE PREPARING FOR THE FLT. THE SID CLRNC ON PAGE 1 OF THE PDC READ 'CAF OVETO 3 BCE' ...PLUS THE REMAINING ROUTING, ALT, SQUAWK. PAGE 2 OF THE PDC READ, 'DISREGARD IDP FLY RWY HDG VECTOR TO BCE.' THIS PAGE 2 WAS MISSED BY BOTH PLTS DURING FLT PREPARATION. WHEN CLRED FOR TKOF BY LAS, THE CLRNC ISSUED WAS 'CLRED FOR TKOF RWY 7L AT D' AND THE WINDS). DURING THE TURN ON THE OVETO 3 SID (FROM RWY HDG TO HDG 360 DEGS) WE WERE ADVISED BY DEP CTL THAT WE WERE CLRED TO MAINTAIN RWY HDG, NOT FOLLOW THE OVETO 3 SID. AT THIS TIME WE TURNED BACK TO AN ASSIGNED HDG OF 030 DEGS. THE CTLR ASKED IF WE RECEIVED OUR DEP CLRNC INFO VIA PDC. WE ANSWERED YES AND RECHKED THE CLRNC AND REALIZED THE MISTAKE. THE CTLR SAID IT HAPPENED BEFORE AND THAT THE PDC SHOULD BE CHANGED TO AVOID THE MISREAD/MISSED INFO PROB. WE AGREED. RECOMMENDATION: IF THE OVETO 3 IS NOT GOING TO BE USED, AND RWY HDG WITH A VECTOR TO BDE IS INTENDED BY DEP, THEN I SUGGEST THEY WRITE THE CLRNC TO READ THAT, AND THAT WHEN ISSUING THE TKOF CLRNC THAT THE CTLR INCLUDE 'MAINTAIN RWY HDG.' THIS WOULD ALIGN LAS CLRNCS WITH THOSE RECEIVED FROM MOST OTHER DEP CTLS.
