Narrative:

On aug/xa/98 I completed installation of aircraft xyz autothrottle clutch assembly. On aug/xe/98 the autothrottle system was put back on placard. On aug/xj/98 the l-hand throttle jammed and the diversion occurred. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the cause of the jammed throttle was a missing bolt in the clutch pack. The reporter said the bolt was present when the clutch pack installation was complete and inspected. The reporter stated the bolt was safety wired so sometime after the job was completed the clutch pack was again worked.

Title: AN MD80-82 AT CRUISE DIVERTED DUE TO THE L THROTTLE JAMMED AT CRUISE PWR CAUSED BY A MISSING BOLT IN THE AUTOTHROTTLE CLUTCH PACK.

Narrative: ON AUG/XA/98 I COMPLETED INSTALLATION OF ACFT XYZ AUTOTHROTTLE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY. ON AUG/XE/98 THE AUTOTHROTTLE SYS WAS PUT BACK ON PLACARD. ON AUG/XJ/98 THE L-HAND THROTTLE JAMMED AND THE DIVERSION OCCURRED. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE CAUSE OF THE JAMMED THROTTLE WAS A MISSING BOLT IN THE CLUTCH PACK. THE RPTR SAID THE BOLT WAS PRESENT WHEN THE CLUTCH PACK INSTALLATION WAS COMPLETE AND INSPECTED. THE RPTR STATED THE BOLT WAS SAFETY WIRED SO SOMETIME AFTER THE JOB WAS COMPLETED THE CLUTCH PACK WAS AGAIN WORKED.
