Narrative:
During a climbing left turn after a departure from barnhart memorial, 7 NM north of wright patterson AFB, I may have accidentally crossed within the 5 SM boundary for the class D at ffo. Upon realizing my proximity to ffo, I turned northbound and continued climbing through 3400 ft MSL to ensure both vertical and horizontal clearance through the class D. I immediately contacted dayton approach for flight following eastbound to my destination (thv). No mention was made by dayton approach of my proximity to ffo. Factors contributing to my error: night, unfamiliar airport, new aircraft (to me), fatigue. Better preflight planning would have alerted me to make a right turnout instead of a left.

Title: AN SMA TAKES OFF FROM A PVT FIELD 10 MI E OF FFO. PLT FLIES INTO CLASS C AIRSPACE. PLT THINKS HE MAY HAVE INTRUDED INTO CLASS D, BUT IS UNAWARE THAT AIRSPACE IS CLASS C.
Narrative: DURING A CLBING L TURN AFTER A DEP FROM BARNHART MEMORIAL, 7 NM N OF WRIGHT PATTERSON AFB, I MAY HAVE ACCIDENTALLY CROSSED WITHIN THE 5 SM BOUNDARY FOR THE CLASS D AT FFO. UPON REALIZING MY PROX TO FFO, I TURNED NBOUND AND CONTINUED CLBING THROUGH 3400 FT MSL TO ENSURE BOTH VERT AND HORIZ CLRNC THROUGH THE CLASS D. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED DAYTON APCH FOR FLT FOLLOWING EBOUND TO MY DEST (THV). NO MENTION WAS MADE BY DAYTON APCH OF MY PROX TO FFO. FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO MY ERROR: NIGHT, UNFAMILIAR ARPT, NEW ACFT (TO ME), FATIGUE. BETTER PREFLT PLANNING WOULD HAVE ALERTED ME TO MAKE A R TURNOUT INSTEAD OF A L.
