Narrative:
I had filed IFR from fdk to pah. I had requested fdk direct mrb direct pah. The clearance I received was after takeoff fly 070 degrees radar vectors to V44 mrb V166 esl V4 hyk V178 ewo V5 bwg direct pah. Climb to 3000 ft, expect 8000 ft 10 mins after departure. Squawk XXXX, frequency 125.52. After takeoff, my #1 communication could not raise departure. I tried several times and in the turbulence (light to moderate), I was distraction and made a standard departure from the pattern and headed for V44. When the controller finally responded, he advised me that my clearance said to fly 070 degrees and expect radar vectors.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: PLT IN A BE55 FILED AN IFR FLT PLAN REQUESTING DIRECT ROUTING AFTER TKOF. PRIOR TO DEP, ATC INSTRUCTED THE PLT TO FLY HDG 070 DEGS FOR A VECTOR TO HIS PLANNED RTE. ON DEP THE PLT HAD RADIO TROUBLE AND CLAIMS HE WAS DISTR BECAUSE OF TURB AND PROCEEDED DIRECT TO HIS PLANNED RTE.
Narrative: I HAD FILED IFR FROM FDK TO PAH. I HAD REQUESTED FDK DIRECT MRB DIRECT PAH. THE CLRNC I RECEIVED WAS AFTER TKOF FLY 070 DEGS RADAR VECTORS TO V44 MRB V166 ESL V4 HYK V178 EWO V5 BWG DIRECT PAH. CLB TO 3000 FT, EXPECT 8000 FT 10 MINS AFTER DEP. SQUAWK XXXX, FREQ 125.52. AFTER TKOF, MY #1 COM COULD NOT RAISE DEP. I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES AND IN THE TURB (LIGHT TO MODERATE), I WAS DISTR AND MADE A STANDARD DEP FROM THE PATTERN AND HEADED FOR V44. WHEN THE CTLR FINALLY RESPONDED, HE ADVISED ME THAT MY CLRNC SAID TO FLY 070 DEGS AND EXPECT RADAR VECTORS.
