Narrative:
Departing bch-jfk, there was a concern about weight and fuel due to high/strong headwinds. We had maximum fuel but making the flight to jfk was questionable. The captain talked to the dispatcher (cdg) and advised the relief pilot and myself 'we are cleared to bangor and we will get a rerelease to new york' (holding up the flight plan) 'and we will use the same flight plan.' somewhere near 50W we were rereleased to jfk. Passing the rerelease point, we were short of fuel approximately 1500 pounds below rerelease fuel. The captain elected to continue to jfk with bangor/bos and bradley as alternates. Near ygr, gander ATC questioned us 'where are you going?' we were advised that our ATC plan was filed to bangor, and we were off course. We requested ATC to jfk. The dispatcher was contacted and we were released IFR, no altitude to jfk. When I asked the captain why the plan was filed to bangor, he replied we were not really on a rerelease, but on a straight release to bangor. It was his intention to 'request' a new release to jfk near dotty. I don't know why he believed we could use the same ATC plan when filed to a different destination. The captain had kept his plans secret from the rest of the crew. We had been misled to believe we were operating on a rerelease when we were not. Very poor crew coordination.

Title: B757 CREW DEVIATES FROM CLRNC IN CZQX AIRSPACE.
Narrative: DEPARTING BCH-JFK, THERE WAS A CONCERN ABOUT WT AND FUEL DUE TO HIGH/STRONG HEADWINDS. WE HAD MAX FUEL BUT MAKING THE FLT TO JFK WAS QUESTIONABLE. THE CAPT TALKED TO THE DISPATCHER (CDG) AND ADVISED THE RELIEF PLT AND MYSELF 'WE ARE CLRED TO BANGOR AND WE WILL GET A RERELEASE TO NEW YORK' (HOLDING UP THE FLT PLAN) 'AND WE WILL USE THE SAME FLT PLAN.' SOMEWHERE NEAR 50W WE WERE RERELEASED TO JFK. PASSING THE RERELEASE POINT, WE WERE SHORT OF FUEL APPROX 1500 LBS BELOW RERELEASE FUEL. THE CAPT ELECTED TO CONTINUE TO JFK WITH BANGOR/BOS AND BRADLEY AS ALTERNATES. NEAR YGR, GANDER ATC QUESTIONED US 'WHERE ARE YOU GOING?' WE WERE ADVISED THAT OUR ATC PLAN WAS FILED TO BANGOR, AND WE WERE OFF COURSE. WE REQUESTED ATC TO JFK. THE DISPATCHER WAS CONTACTED AND WE WERE RELEASED IFR, NO ALT TO JFK. WHEN I ASKED THE CAPT WHY THE PLAN WAS FILED TO BANGOR, HE REPLIED WE WERE NOT REALLY ON A RERELEASE, BUT ON A STRAIGHT RELEASE TO BANGOR. IT WAS HIS INTENTION TO 'REQUEST' A NEW RELEASE TO JFK NEAR DOTTY. I DON'T KNOW WHY HE BELIEVED WE COULD USE THE SAME ATC PLAN WHEN FILED TO A DIFFERENT DEST. THE CAPT HAD KEPT HIS PLANS SECRET FROM THE REST OF THE CREW. WE HAD BEEN MISLED TO BELIEVE WE WERE OPERATING ON A RERELEASE WHEN WE WERE NOT. VERY POOR CREW COORD.
