Narrative:
We had a center tank pump fail just prior to departure. Maintenance was notified and pump was deferred. Load planning was not notified to consider center tank fuel as structural check fuel. Aircraft zero fuel weight was plenty low enough to accommodate center tank fuel. Supplemental information from acn 413863: we had a message from the previous trip's dispatcher stating that he had neglected to advise our load planning department of the inoperative pump, and that we should have considered all center tank fuel as structural check fuel. We were unaware of this problem until advised by the dispatcher.
