Narrative:
During climb and passing through 11000 ft, received left engine duct leak warning. Using abnormal procedures checklist, the left engine bleed was closed but did not eliminate the warning. Checklist instructed a left engine shutdown which was accomplished. An emergency was declared with ATC, a diversion to dayton initiated, flight attendant and passenger informed. Approach and landing to runway 18 was accomplished without incident and passenger eventually deplaned at the gate. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated that maintenance advised the cause of the false warning was a defective sensor loop and no pneumatic duct leaking was found. Callback conversation with reporter acn 413740 revealed the following information: the reporter stated that the cause of the duct leak warning is unknown as maintenance has made no contact with the reporter since the incident.
