Narrative:

I was working final vector lga sector for lga airport. Busy session. Lda approach to runway 22 in use at lga departing runway 31. Hpn airport running aircraft to runway 34 approximately 20 NM northeast of lga. While vectoring an C750 for approach and turning for the localizer, an unknown VFR aircraft appeared on the edge of the new york class B airspace, 2 mi converging, indicating the same altitude as my C750. I issued a traffic alert and suggested a descent to the C750. The unknown aircraft was indicating an altitude that would put him in the class B at the base of 3000 ft. While distraction by this conflict, 2 other aircraft, that had been on vectors for the final approach, may have lost standard IFR separation, and due to other aircraft in the vicinity, vertical separation could not be established. Vectors were issued and traffic issued. Causal factors: heavy volume of traffic, other aircraft not performing to expectations, increasing workload, unknown possible class B violator causing distraction and congestion of airspace in the new york area.

Title: A CTLR WORKING FINAL APCH TO LGA BECAME DISTR WITH AN UNKNOWN TCA VIOLATOR AND ALLOWED 2 OTHER IFR ACFT ON VECTORS TO LOSE STANDARD SEPARATION.

Narrative: I WAS WORKING FINAL VECTOR LGA SECTOR FOR LGA ARPT. BUSY SESSION. LDA APCH TO RWY 22 IN USE AT LGA DEPARTING RWY 31. HPN ARPT RUNNING ACFT TO RWY 34 APPROX 20 NM NE OF LGA. WHILE VECTORING AN C750 FOR APCH AND TURNING FOR THE LOC, AN UNKNOWN VFR ACFT APPEARED ON THE EDGE OF THE NEW YORK CLASS B AIRSPACE, 2 MI CONVERGING, INDICATING THE SAME ALT AS MY C750. I ISSUED A TFC ALERT AND SUGGESTED A DSCNT TO THE C750. THE UNKNOWN ACFT WAS INDICATING AN ALT THAT WOULD PUT HIM IN THE CLASS B AT THE BASE OF 3000 FT. WHILE DISTR BY THIS CONFLICT, 2 OTHER ACFT, THAT HAD BEEN ON VECTORS FOR THE FINAL APCH, MAY HAVE LOST STANDARD IFR SEPARATION, AND DUE TO OTHER ACFT IN THE VICINITY, VERT SEPARATION COULD NOT BE ESTABLISHED. VECTORS WERE ISSUED AND TFC ISSUED. CAUSAL FACTORS: HVY VOLUME OF TFC, OTHER ACFT NOT PERFORMING TO EXPECTATIONS, INCREASING WORKLOAD, UNKNOWN POSSIBLE CLASS B VIOLATOR CAUSING DISTR AND CONGESTION OF AIRSPACE IN THE NEW YORK AREA.
