Narrative:
We were on climb out, after takeoff, being vectored by cvg departure control approximately 10 NM north of the airport. We had been cleared to 13000 ft shortly after takeoff. Departure control instructed a turn to 360 degree heading at 9000 ft. At 9000 ft we were sent to ZID and to proceed direct to ffo VOR. At 10500 ft, before checking in with ZID, we got a pop-up TCASII RA. The RA directed to monitor vertical speed. We leveled at 11000 ft and idented the traffic. The TCASII indicated the traffic was at 1 O'clock at 11500 ft, at approximately 2.5 NM. As we checked in with ZID, we indicated we were level at 11000 ft because of an RA and he confirmed the traffic on his radar.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: FLC OF AN MD88 LEVELED OFF DURING CLB IN RESPONSE TO A TCASII RA. TFC WAS AHEAD AND CLOSING AND 500 FT ABOVE. CONTINUED CLB MAY HAVE BROUGHT ACFT TOGETHER. WHEN FLC CHKED IN WITH ARTCC THE CTLR ADVISED THAT THE TFC WAS NOW ON HIS RADAR SCOPE.
Narrative: WE WERE ON CLBOUT, AFTER TKOF, BEING VECTORED BY CVG DEP CTL APPROX 10 NM N OF THE ARPT. WE HAD BEEN CLRED TO 13000 FT SHORTLY AFTER TKOF. DEP CTL INSTRUCTED A TURN TO 360 DEG HDG AT 9000 FT. AT 9000 FT WE WERE SENT TO ZID AND TO PROCEED DIRECT TO FFO VOR. AT 10500 FT, BEFORE CHKING IN WITH ZID, WE GOT A POP-UP TCASII RA. THE RA DIRECTED TO MONITOR VERT SPD. WE LEVELED AT 11000 FT AND IDENTED THE TFC. THE TCASII INDICATED THE TFC WAS AT 1 O'CLOCK AT 11500 FT, AT APPROX 2.5 NM. AS WE CHKED IN WITH ZID, WE INDICATED WE WERE LEVEL AT 11000 FT BECAUSE OF AN RA AND HE CONFIRMED THE TFC ON HIS RADAR.
