Narrative:
Took the normal flight course instead of the filed one after bwg. Controller called to confirm our route, then cleared us along our old route. At that time we were slightly off course. A little more planning could have helped.

Title: AN MD80 FLC FLIES THE WRONG AIRWAY, WRONG RTE AFTER BMG. FLEW THE OLD, NOT THE FILED.
Narrative: TOOK THE NORMAL FLT COURSE INSTEAD OF THE FILED ONE AFTER BWG. CTLR CALLED TO CONFIRM OUR RTE, THEN CLRED US ALONG OUR OLD RTE. AT THAT TIME WE WERE SLIGHTLY OFF COURSE. A LITTLE MORE PLANNING COULD HAVE HELPED.
