Narrative:

We departed bdl on runway 24 and were given a heading of 280 degrees. Shortly after completing the turn, we were given direct center VOR and climb to 11000 ft. Approaching center, we were given a moderate turbulence report at our altitude. We crossed center VOR and were going to syr when the controller asked if we were going to cam. We stated that we were going to syr and he said he needed us to go to cam and to turn to a heading of 350 degrees for cam. Before the turn was complete, the controller modified the heading to 340 degrees. Upon rollout, the controller then told us to go direct alb (which was not on the plan), then direct syr. The remainder of the flight was uneventful. At altitude, we reviewed the flight plan and cam was on the plan, but was not in the FMS. The captain put the route in the FMS and we went over the route and the legs prior to running the before starting engines checklist. At that time, I did not notice that cam was not in the FMS. I had the flight plan out and followed the captain as he went through the points. I failed to catch that cam was missing. I had sent for the clearance and for a tps prior to going over the flight plan. I may have been distraction momentarily while the ACARS printed the information. Supplemental information from acn 600108: even during our check of the box to paper of the routing and legs page, we still missed that cam was not in our FMS. No excuses, my fault, and my responsibility.

Title: MD80 FLT CREW FLIES THE WRONG CLRNC DEPARTING BDL.

Narrative: WE DEPARTED BDL ON RWY 24 AND WERE GIVEN A HEADING OF 280 DEGS. SHORTLY AFTER COMPLETING THE TURN, WE WERE GIVEN DIRECT CTR VOR AND CLB TO 11000 FT. APCHING CTR, WE WERE GIVEN A MODERATE TURB RPT AT OUR ALT. WE CROSSED CTR VOR AND WERE GOING TO SYR WHEN THE CTLR ASKED IF WE WERE GOING TO CAM. WE STATED THAT WE WERE GOING TO SYR AND HE SAID HE NEEDED US TO GO TO CAM AND TO TURN TO A HEADING OF 350 DEGS FOR CAM. BEFORE THE TURN WAS COMPLETE, THE CTLR MODIFIED THE HEADING TO 340 DEGS. UPON ROLLOUT, THE CTLR THEN TOLD US TO GO DIRECT ALB (WHICH WAS NOT ON THE PLAN), THEN DIRECT SYR. THE REMAINDER OF THE FLT WAS UNEVENTFUL. AT ALT, WE REVIEWED THE FLT PLAN AND CAM WAS ON THE PLAN, BUT WAS NOT IN THE FMS. THE CAPT PUT THE RTE IN THE FMS AND WE WENT OVER THE RTE AND THE LEGS PRIOR TO RUNNING THE BEFORE STARTING ENGS CHKLIST. AT THAT TIME, I DID NOT NOTICE THAT CAM WAS NOT IN THE FMS. I HAD THE FLT PLAN OUT AND FOLLOWED THE CAPT AS HE WENT THROUGH THE POINTS. I FAILED TO CATCH THAT CAM WAS MISSING. I HAD SENT FOR THE CLRNC AND FOR A TPS PRIOR TO GOING OVER THE FLT PLAN. I MAY HAVE BEEN DISTR MOMENTARILY WHILE THE ACARS PRINTED THE INFO. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 600108: EVEN DURING OUR CHK OF THE BOX TO PAPER OF THE ROUTING AND LEGS PAGE, WE STILL MISSED THAT CAM WAS NOT IN OUR FMS. NO EXCUSES, MY FAULT, AND MY RESPONSIBILITY.
