Narrative:

At eyw airport runway exit stub taxiway east has ambiguous/unclr markings and it is creating safety problems. Originally, taxiway east had one hold short line (or clear of runway line). This was covered over with black paint, and a new yellow clear of runway stripe was painted, closer to taxiway a. (Incidentally, chart 13-1 of the taxiway depiction is not correct. The ramp is not directly connected to taxiway a, there is a median between it.) the original blackened over hold short line has yellow paint bleeding through it, and is being mistaken by GA aircraft (and even tower personnel) as the correct hold short line. As a result, aircraft are not properly clearing the runway, stopping too soon while trying to contact ground, and creating an obstruction hazard to departing aircraft. (Many aircraft are vacation visitors -- unfamiliar with the airport.) the old hold short line at taxiway east needs to be abraded away with a cement sander. Otherwise, this hazard will continue unabated.

Title: A DH8 PIC'S RPT ON AN ARPT PROB AT EYW, FL.

Narrative: AT EYW ARPT RWY EXIT STUB TXWY E HAS AMBIGUOUS/UNCLR MARKINGS AND IT IS CREATING SAFETY PROBS. ORIGINALLY, TXWY E HAD ONE HOLD SHORT LINE (OR CLR OF RWY LINE). THIS WAS COVERED OVER WITH BLACK PAINT, AND A NEW YELLOW CLR OF RWY STRIPE WAS PAINTED, CLOSER TO TXWY A. (INCIDENTALLY, CHART 13-1 OF THE TXWY DEPICTION IS NOT CORRECT. THE RAMP IS NOT DIRECTLY CONNECTED TO TXWY A, THERE IS A MEDIAN BTWN IT.) THE ORIGINAL BLACKENED OVER HOLD SHORT LINE HAS YELLOW PAINT BLEEDING THROUGH IT, AND IS BEING MISTAKEN BY GA ACFT (AND EVEN TWR PERSONNEL) AS THE CORRECT HOLD SHORT LINE. AS A RESULT, ACFT ARE NOT PROPERLY CLRING THE RWY, STOPPING TOO SOON WHILE TRYING TO CONTACT GND, AND CREATING AN OBSTRUCTION HAZARD TO DEPARTING ACFT. (MANY ACFT ARE VACATION VISITORS -- UNFAMILIAR WITH THE ARPT.) THE OLD HOLD SHORT LINE AT TXWY E NEEDS TO BE ABRADED AWAY WITH A CEMENT SANDER. OTHERWISE, THIS HAZARD WILL CONTINUE UNABATED.
