Narrative:
Since this was a medical emergency, nothing could have been done to prevent it. Yet, we encountered an obstacle when our doctors requested the blood pressure cuff, and it was inoperative. Flight attendants are not allowed to open the medical kit unless a doctor requests it, therefore, we had no way of preventing the inoperative equipment. Company needs to have a more rigorous medical kit checking system. The pilots and flight attendants did a great job!
