Narrative:
Normal approach and touchdown. Speed 131 KTS/GS 163 KTS. After touchdown, I allowed the nose to rise up too much and in an attempt to keep the nose from slamming down, it felt like the aircraft continued to aerobrake. Lowered the nose and rollout, taxi and parking were normal. Upon completion of parking checklist, the #1 flight attendant said that the flight attendants in the back heard a scraping sound on landing. The first officer mentioned that he may have heard something. I heard nothing. I left the aircraft and found a 6-8 ft scrape on the skin on the tail section. Maintenance was notified and a tailstrike inspection was initiated. Supplemental information from acn 415182: approach appeared normal until just prior to touchdown when a slightly faster than normal pitch increase was initiated by the PF. Mains touched and nose continued to rise to what appeared to be a slightly higher than normal attitude. Heard an unusual noise that I thought was either the mains shuddering or maybe a tailstrike.

Title: A LNDG B757 EXPERIENCES A TAILSTRIKE WHILE PERFORMING A DOWNWIND LNDG.
Narrative: NORMAL APCH AND TOUCHDOWN. SPD 131 KTS/GS 163 KTS. AFTER TOUCHDOWN, I ALLOWED THE NOSE TO RISE UP TOO MUCH AND IN AN ATTEMPT TO KEEP THE NOSE FROM SLAMMING DOWN, IT FELT LIKE THE ACFT CONTINUED TO AEROBRAKE. LOWERED THE NOSE AND ROLLOUT, TAXI AND PARKING WERE NORMAL. UPON COMPLETION OF PARKING CHKLIST, THE #1 FLT ATTENDANT SAID THAT THE FLT ATTENDANTS IN THE BACK HEARD A SCRAPING SOUND ON LNDG. THE FO MENTIONED THAT HE MAY HAVE HEARD SOMETHING. I HEARD NOTHING. I LEFT THE ACFT AND FOUND A 6-8 FT SCRAPE ON THE SKIN ON THE TAIL SECTION. MAINT WAS NOTIFIED AND A TAILSTRIKE INSPECTION WAS INITIATED. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 415182: APCH APPEARED NORMAL UNTIL JUST PRIOR TO TOUCHDOWN WHEN A SLIGHTLY FASTER THAN NORMAL PITCH INCREASE WAS INITIATED BY THE PF. MAINS TOUCHED AND NOSE CONTINUED TO RISE TO WHAT APPEARED TO BE A SLIGHTLY HIGHER THAN NORMAL ATTITUDE. HEARD AN UNUSUAL NOISE THAT I THOUGHT WAS EITHER THE MAINS SHUDDERING OR MAYBE A TAILSTRIKE.
