Narrative:
On takeoff from fxe, I noticed that the altimeter was not functioning. I tried the alternate static source but still nothing happened. I called tower and asked to return to the airport for landing and reported that my altimeter was inoperative. After turning crosswind and being cleared into the pattern, I then declared an emergency for safeness.
