Narrative:
A student pilot and myself were doing traffic pattern work. We already did 2-3 touch-and-goes getting ready to land for a full stop. We were on downwind at 1100 ft, then turned base and started to descend. We were not cleared to land yet, but the following touch-and-goes we weren't either, until final. We turned base and started to descend. Once established on base, we raised the wing on the C172 to look at extended final. We saw a citation inbound for landing, so I immediately took control of the aircraft and made a climbing left turn. Once I saw the other aircraft go below me and land, I turned and re-entered on final. Tower cleared me to land and warned me for wake turbulence. I was never warned about the citation on extended final, and didn't see him until on base. ATC should have advised me about the other aircraft. If immediate action wasn't taken, something drastic could have resulted. I was never advised by ATC about the other aircraft.

Title: INSTRUCTOR PLT IN A C172 ON BASE LEG FOR ANOTHER TOUCH- AND-GO HAS STUDENT RAISE WING TO LOOK FOR TFC ON FINAL AND IS SURPRISED TO SEE A CESSNA CITATION INBOUND ON FINAL. HE IMMEDIATELY TOOK CTL OF THE ACFT AND MADE A CLBING L TURN AND RETURNED TO FINAL WHEREUPON THE TWR CLRED HIM TO LAND AND CAUTIONED OF WAKE TURB FROM THE PRECEDING JET.
