Narrative:

A precautionary landing was made at dpa on oct/xa/98 because fumes were present in cockpit, detected about XA15. On the leg before, passenger had smelled something, but nothing detected by crew (first officer had physically visited cabin to check it out). No smoke was seen at any time. Further flying of aircraft was made contingent upon a qualified maintenance technical inspection, which was performed next day. Not satisfied with just that inspection, during which no abnormalities were found, a second inspection was performed at company customer service in wichita, ks, the same day. With a signed discrepancy log, pilots and maintenance were satisfied that the aircraft could safely and legally fly.
