Tower cleared us to position and hold. Tower canceled clearance, aircraft 5- 6 ft beyond hold line (VFR). Tower notified of aircraft position. Tower cleared 2 aircraft to land -- aircraft #1 commuter propeller, aircraft #2 B757. Tower notified both aircraft of B727 past hold line, cleared them to land. Supplemental information from acn 417037: approaching the #1 position for takeoff, the captain instructor called the tower stating we were ready for takeoff. Aircraft was on very short final. Tower keyed microphone, said '...(long pause as aircraft passed in front of us) taxi into position and hold.' somewhere in the conversations with the tower, a different voice was talking to us.
