Narrative:
After touchdown on our second touch-and-go, my student retracted the landing gear while we were still on the runway. He mistakenly put the gear up instead of the flaps. I reached over and tried to put the gear back down, but it was too late and the nose gear collapsed. I promptly pulled the mixtures back and shut the engines down. The aircraft skidded on the nose and came to a stop on the runway. I then secured the aircraft and we got out as crash fire rescue equipment arrived. Supplemental information from acn 417274: while performing a touch-and-go, the gear switch was inadvertently actuated resulting in the raising of the nose gear. This resulted in propeller strikes to both propellers and damage to the nose cone.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: BE76 INSTRUCTOR AND TRAINEE. STUDENT ACTUATED GEAR SWITCH RATHER THAN THE FLAPS SWITCH, WHEN DOING TOUCH-AND-GO LNDGS. THE NOSE GEAR RETRACTED ON THE GND AS A RESULT.
Narrative: AFTER TOUCHDOWN ON OUR SECOND TOUCH-AND-GO, MY STUDENT RETRACTED THE LNDG GEAR WHILE WE WERE STILL ON THE RWY. HE MISTAKENLY PUT THE GEAR UP INSTEAD OF THE FLAPS. I REACHED OVER AND TRIED TO PUT THE GEAR BACK DOWN, BUT IT WAS TOO LATE AND THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED. I PROMPTLY PULLED THE MIXTURES BACK AND SHUT THE ENGS DOWN. THE ACFT SKIDDED ON THE NOSE AND CAME TO A STOP ON THE RWY. I THEN SECURED THE ACFT AND WE GOT OUT AS CFR ARRIVED. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 417274: WHILE PERFORMING A TOUCH-AND-GO, THE GEAR SWITCH WAS INADVERTENTLY ACTUATED RESULTING IN THE RAISING OF THE NOSE GEAR. THIS RESULTED IN PROP STRIKES TO BOTH PROPS AND DAMAGE TO THE NOSE CONE.
