Narrative:

Aircraft reported 8 NM north of airport for sbound transition of geu at 2500 ft MSL for gyr. Geu tower advised transition approved at 2500 ft MSL and gave TA for an aircraft northbound transition from geu. The pilot diligently searched for northbound aircraft after advising geu tower that pilot was looking for traffic. Pilot looked for approximately 1 min until contact was made. Low wing aircraft was approximately 200 ft higher in approximately a 10 degree right bank. Pilot immediately made right bank also. Pilot first spotted other aircraft at over 1/2 mi at approximately 11 O'clock position. When aircraft passed one another, distance was approximately 1/2 mi. Position at this point 3 SM northeast of geu airport. Pilot of other aircraft received no further communication from geu tower and had probably been given frequency change approval. Approximately 1 1/2 mins later, pilot report 'abeam' to geu tower and also given frequency change. In the future, pilot will provide tower with additional position reports even though not requested. This may help other traffic in area. However, once other aircraft is given frequency change, they probably cannot benefit from these reports to locate other traffic. Pilot is certain geu tower does not have tie to local radar as gyr and dut do. Perhaps this would help geu tower give better advisories.

Title: PLT IN A PA34 IN SBOUND DIRECTION ISSUED A TA BY GEU TWR ABOUT TFC NBOUND. BOTH ACFT WERE REQUIRED TO MAKE A R TURN TO AVOID A POSSIBLE COLLISION.

Narrative: ACFT RPTED 8 NM N OF ARPT FOR SBOUND TRANSITION OF GEU AT 2500 FT MSL FOR GYR. GEU TWR ADVISED TRANSITION APPROVED AT 2500 FT MSL AND GAVE TA FOR AN ACFT NBOUND TRANSITION FROM GEU. THE PLT DILIGENTLY SEARCHED FOR NBOUND ACFT AFTER ADVISING GEU TWR THAT PLT WAS LOOKING FOR TFC. PLT LOOKED FOR APPROX 1 MIN UNTIL CONTACT WAS MADE. LOW WING ACFT WAS APPROX 200 FT HIGHER IN APPROX A 10 DEG R BANK. PLT IMMEDIATELY MADE R BANK ALSO. PLT FIRST SPOTTED OTHER ACFT AT OVER 1/2 MI AT APPROX 11 O'CLOCK POS. WHEN ACFT PASSED ONE ANOTHER, DISTANCE WAS APPROX 1/2 MI. POS AT THIS POINT 3 SM NE OF GEU ARPT. PLT OF OTHER ACFT RECEIVED NO FURTHER COM FROM GEU TWR AND HAD PROBABLY BEEN GIVEN FREQ CHANGE APPROVAL. APPROX 1 1/2 MINS LATER, PLT RPT 'ABEAM' TO GEU TWR AND ALSO GIVEN FREQ CHANGE. IN THE FUTURE, PLT WILL PROVIDE TWR WITH ADDITIONAL POS RPTS EVEN THOUGH NOT REQUESTED. THIS MAY HELP OTHER TFC IN AREA. HOWEVER, ONCE OTHER ACFT IS GIVEN FREQ CHANGE, THEY PROBABLY CANNOT BENEFIT FROM THESE RPTS TO LOCATE OTHER TFC. PLT IS CERTAIN GEU TWR DOES NOT HAVE TIE TO LCL RADAR AS GYR AND DUT DO. PERHAPS THIS WOULD HELP GEU TWR GIVE BETTER ADVISORIES.
