Narrative:

After takeoff from san, captain yxyx noticed the gear in transit light illuminated and the pitot static light also illuminated. He then recycled the gear as I flew below 180 KTS. We received a positive gear down and locked on all wheels, but on retraction, we ended up with the gear in transit light still on as well as the pitot static lights. We both thought the gear pin must not have been properly placed in the scissor assembly even though we both looked at it on the ground in san diego. In-flight we decided to divert the aircraft from smo to bur because of the longer runway length, tower operation, emergency equipment and maintenance facilities. Captain yxyx notified the passenger and company. After a normal landing, while taxiing the aircraft on FBO's ramp, it became difficult to steer the aircraft, so I stopped the plane and shut down the engines. After deplaning, we noticed the gear pin was not connecting the scissor and that there was damage to the nose gear. The aircraft was then towed into the hangar.

Title: A WESTWIND 1124 IN INITIAL CLB AT 10000 FT DECLARED AN EMER AND DIVERTED DUE TO A NOSE LNDG GEAR UNSAFE LIGHT CAUSED BY THE FAILURE TO CONNECT THE APEX BOLT ON THE NOSE GEAR SCISSORS.

Narrative: AFTER TKOF FROM SAN, CAPT YXYX NOTICED THE GEAR IN TRANSIT LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE PITOT STATIC LIGHT ALSO ILLUMINATED. WE BOTH THOUGHT THE GEAR PIN MUST NOT HAVE BEEN PROPERLY PLACED IN THE SCISSOR ASSEMBLY EVEN THOUGH WE BOTH LOOKED AT IT ON THE GND IN SAN DIEGO. INFLT WE DECIDED TO DIVERT THE ACFT FROM SMO TO BUR BECAUSE OF THE LONGER RWY LENGTH, TWR OP, EMER EQUIP AND MAINT FACILITIES. CAPT YXYX NOTIFIED THE PAX AND COMPANY. AFTER A NORMAL LNDG, WHILE TAXIING THE ACFT ON FBO'S RAMP, IT BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER THE ACFT, SO I STOPPED THE PLANE AND SHUT DOWN THE ENGS. AFTER DEPLANING, WE NOTICED THE GEAR PIN WAS NOT CONNECTING THE SCISSOR AND THAT THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE NOSE GEAR. THE ACFT WAS THEN TOWED INTO THE HANGAR.
