Descending from 17000 ft originally cleared to 12000 ft then cleared to 10000 ft and slow to 250 KTS. Changed frequency and called out of 10200 ft for 10000 ft. Approach control asked what altitude cleared to. Responded to 10000 ft. Approach said should be at 11000 ft but 10000 ft ok as no conflict.
