Narrative:
While being marshalled in to gate at sfo, the aircraft's left wingtip impacted a catering truck. Wing walkers and forward marshaller were signaling that I was cleared to proceed. Minimal damage occurred, smashing left navigation light lens. Ramp personnel should be made aware of the costs, as well as the danger involved when strict adherence to aircraft clearance parameters are not followed. Suggest additional and more in-depth training for ramp personnel.
