Narrative:
We landed on runway 36 in oma. Runway 36 is a crossing runway with runway 32L/14R. After landing we were cleared for a 180 degree turn on the runway to taxi up and hold short of the hold short line for runway 14R. The tower controller had an air carrier Y flight departing runway 14R. We completed the 180 degree turn and taxied back stopping 1/2 a plane length beyond the hold short line. At this time the controller had to cancel air carrier Y takeoff clearance and they aborted takeoff. It should be noted that we were still well clear of the intersecting runway. I believe this was caused by: 1) the captain (PF) did not see the hold short line. It is a faint paint job. 2) as the PNF, I saw the line and was slow to jam on the brakes when it became apparent that the captain did not see the line or wasn't going to stop in time. Perhaps this can be avoided in the future by better crew communication and a more aggressive stance on my part as the PNF first officer during taxi. Hope this is what you need.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: CAPT OF A BEECH 1900 AIRLINER (BE02) FAILED TO STOP AT RWY HOLD SHORT LINE WHEN BACK TAXIING AFTER LNDG AT A XING RWY WHEREIN ANOTHER ACFT WAS ON THE TKOF ROLL. TWR INTERVENED AND ABORTED THE OTHER ACFT'S TKOF WHEN OBSERVING THE BEECH GO PAST THE HOLD LINE.
Narrative: WE LANDED ON RWY 36 IN OMA. RWY 36 IS A XING RWY WITH RWY 32L/14R. AFTER LNDG WE WERE CLRED FOR A 180 DEG TURN ON THE RWY TO TAXI UP AND HOLD SHORT OF THE HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 14R. THE TWR CTLR HAD AN ACR Y FLT DEPARTING RWY 14R. WE COMPLETED THE 180 DEG TURN AND TAXIED BACK STOPPING 1/2 A PLANE LENGTH BEYOND THE HOLD SHORT LINE. AT THIS TIME THE CTLR HAD TO CANCEL ACR Y TKOF CLRNC AND THEY ABORTED TKOF. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT WE WERE STILL WELL CLR OF THE INTERSECTING RWY. I BELIEVE THIS WAS CAUSED BY: 1) THE CAPT (PF) DID NOT SEE THE HOLD SHORT LINE. IT IS A FAINT PAINT JOB. 2) AS THE PNF, I SAW THE LINE AND WAS SLOW TO JAM ON THE BRAKES WHEN IT BECAME APPARENT THAT THE CAPT DID NOT SEE THE LINE OR WASN'T GOING TO STOP IN TIME. PERHAPS THIS CAN BE AVOIDED IN THE FUTURE BY BETTER CREW COM AND A MORE AGGRESSIVE STANCE ON MY PART AS THE PNF FO DURING TAXI. HOPE THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED.
