Narrative:
Upon pushback we heard and felt tow bar shudder. Agent had us set brakes. When we asked about noise, he said tow bar had bent because nose steering bypass pin was not installed per proper procedure. We verified no damage had been done to nose gear.

Title: THE FLC OF A B727 HEARD THE NOSE GEAR SHUDDER DURING PUSHBACK AND FOUND THAT IT WAS DUE TO THE STEERING BYPASS PIN NOT BEING INSTALLED. NO DAMAGE WAS DONE.
Narrative: UPON PUSHBACK WE HEARD AND FELT TOW BAR SHUDDER. AGENT HAD US SET BRAKES. WHEN WE ASKED ABOUT NOISE, HE SAID TOW BAR HAD BENT BECAUSE NOSE STEERING BYPASS PIN WAS NOT INSTALLED PER PROPER PROC. WE VERIFIED NO DAMAGE HAD BEEN DONE TO NOSE GEAR.
