Narrative:
On nov/xa/98 at approximately XA45, I received a radio call from station maintenance control ZZZ. It was reported that the flight crew on my gate had a concern about a small dent on the skin below door 1L. I examined the area in concern and discovered 2 very minor indentations that affected the structure of the aircraft in no significant way. It would not in any way jeopardize the airworthiness of the aircraft. I reviewed the aircraft record. It had not been noted and deferred. Although the damage was quite minor, it could not be repaired, if need be, prior to dispatch. Therefore, I wrote a discrepancy against the aircraft and then deferred it. This was of course agreeable to the flight crew. It was brought to my attention, at a later date, that I did not include a reference to the gnmm in the deferral document, which should be followed.

Title: A B767 WAS DISPATCHED WITH 2 SMALL SKIN DENTS BELOW DOOR 1L DEFERRED BUT WITH NO CLASS 1 DOCUMENTATION REF.
Narrative: ON NOV/XA/98 AT APPROX XA45, I RECEIVED A RADIO CALL FROM STATION MAINT CTL ZZZ. IT WAS RPTED THAT THE FLC ON MY GATE HAD A CONCERN ABOUT A SMALL DENT ON THE SKIN BELOW DOOR 1L. I EXAMINED THE AREA IN CONCERN AND DISCOVERED 2 VERY MINOR INDENTATIONS THAT AFFECTED THE STRUCTURE OF THE ACFT IN NO SIGNIFICANT WAY. IT WOULD NOT IN ANY WAY JEOPARDIZE THE AIRWORTHINESS OF THE ACFT. I REVIEWED THE ACFT RECORD. IT HAD NOT BEEN NOTED AND DEFERRED. ALTHOUGH THE DAMAGE WAS QUITE MINOR, IT COULD NOT BE REPAIRED, IF NEED BE, PRIOR TO DISPATCH. THEREFORE, I WROTE A DISCREPANCY AGAINST THE ACFT AND THEN DEFERRED IT. THIS WAS OF COURSE AGREEABLE TO THE FLC. IT WAS BROUGHT TO MY ATTN, AT A LATER DATE, THAT I DID NOT INCLUDE A REF TO THE GNMM IN THE DEFERRAL DOCUMENT, WHICH SHOULD BE FOLLOWED.
