Narrative:

We waited for takeoff on runway 9R with engines shut down, traffic was landing runway 27L. We were notified we had 3 mins to takeoff. We started engines and taxied to runway 9R. When we were cleared into position and hold we were told our traffic was on a 9 mi final for runway 27L. The tower tried several times to contact the arriving aircraft, then cleared us for takeoff when they were on a 6 mi final. We immediately applied power. Immediately after takeoff we saw the other aircraft Y on final. We turned to a 140 degree heading as assigned and took no other evasive action. Advised tower of hard right turn. I feel more care should be taken when traffic is arriving and departing in opposite directions. Perhaps more spacing and definitely establishing radio contact between the tower and arriving traffic prior to clearing departure traffic for takeoff.

Title: RPTR QUESTIONED WHETHER TWR HAD SUFFICIENT SEPARATION AND APPLIED THE APPROPRIATE PROCS BTWN THEIR ACFT X AND ACFT Y IN AN OPPOSITE DIRECTION ARRIVING AND DEP SCENARIO.

Narrative: WE WAITED FOR TKOF ON RWY 9R WITH ENGS SHUT DOWN, TFC WAS LNDG RWY 27L. WE WERE NOTIFIED WE HAD 3 MINS TO TKOF. WE STARTED ENGS AND TAXIED TO RWY 9R. WHEN WE WERE CLRED INTO POS AND HOLD WE WERE TOLD OUR TFC WAS ON A 9 MI FINAL FOR RWY 27L. THE TWR TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO CONTACT THE ARRIVING ACFT, THEN CLRED US FOR TKOF WHEN THEY WERE ON A 6 MI FINAL. WE IMMEDIATELY APPLIED PWR. IMMEDIATELY AFTER TKOF WE SAW THE OTHER ACFT Y ON FINAL. WE TURNED TO A 140 DEG HDG AS ASSIGNED AND TOOK NO OTHER EVASIVE ACTION. ADVISED TWR OF HARD R TURN. I FEEL MORE CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN WHEN TFC IS ARRIVING AND DEPARTING IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS. PERHAPS MORE SPACING AND DEFINITELY ESTABLISHING RADIO CONTACT BTWN THE TWR AND ARRIVING TFC PRIOR TO CLRING DEP TFC FOR TKOF.
