Narrative:
Aircraft X assigned 6000 ft from pbi approach. Handed off to mia approach. Observed aircraft Y descending on converging path at same rate and altitude. As we passed 6600 ft, we were instructed to level at 7000 ft. Received TCASII TA prior to leveling. Controller asked what altitude we were assigned and then stated we were supposed to be assigned 7000 ft. Both the first officer and I were positive we were assigned 6000 ft.

Title: E120 ACR FLC'S ALT STOPPED BY MIA APCH CTLR WHEN CTLR OBSERVED E120 DSNDING INTO CONFLICT WITH B737 ASSIGNED 6000 FT. WHEN E120 FLC QUESTIONED ABOUT ALT, FLC STATES ALT ASSIGNED BY PBI APCH CTL.
Narrative: ACFT X ASSIGNED 6000 FT FROM PBI APCH. HANDED OFF TO MIA APCH. OBSERVED ACFT Y DSNDING ON CONVERGING PATH AT SAME RATE AND ALT. AS WE PASSED 6600 FT, WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO LEVEL AT 7000 FT. RECEIVED TCASII TA PRIOR TO LEVELING. CTLR ASKED WHAT ALT WE WERE ASSIGNED AND THEN STATED WE WERE SUPPOSED TO BE ASSIGNED 7000 FT. BOTH THE FO AND I WERE POSITIVE WE WERE ASSIGNED 6000 FT.
