Air Traffic Incident | Pilot Deviation |
Narrative:
After esn, I moved into the left seat and flew the rest of the mission, landing at 40N. First landing at 40N was not great (too fast on final) so we decided to do another. Next one was ok and we started a third. On downwind, we heard another pilot announce an 'overhead downwind to runway 29.' sounded like we were being cut off, so I started to break out of the pattern and I must have raised the gear as I added power and turned right. We then spotted the other aircraft on final and we turned base and resumed the approach with 15 inches of manifold pressure and full flaps. The bottom line is that we did not rechk gear down on final after the distraction and the wheels were still up when we landed. This incident did not require an NTSB report because there was not substantial damage and no injuries.
